cracked up to be is about a teenage girl, Parker who has had a bad experience at a party. Parker was the head cheerleading captain, a popular good looking student in her school. She had everything going for her until she made one mistake that could jeopardize her graduating school. Parker had a relationship with her best friend Chris until they ended it when she stole money from him. They still decided to be friends as they still had feelings for each other. Parker met a new student at her school, Jake, and they both had interest in each other. Parker has weekly meetings with her guidance counsellor and principle to help her recover from her disaster at the party.
As the novel begins Parker is back in school living with the regret that she went through that one night. She has to regain her confidence and popularity with her friends, teachers, and peers. For the first problem that is faced by the main character is when Parker meets the new kid Jake. Jake tries to get very personal with her life and he wants to figure her out as best as possible with her. As he gets more interested in her all he wants is to find out what happened that night at the party and he really wants her to like him as much as he likes her, so they can have a relationship. Throughout the book i think the author is really good at keeping your interest because every chapter ends with something big and it just wants you to keep reading. The writing in the book is also well done which helps you keep interest.
Question : What do you think happened to Parker at the party she went to. If something happened to you and someone was worried and wanted to help you out, would you tell them?

I think that maybe Parker had gotten raped at the party, and shes scared to tell people what really happened. I would want to tell someone if soemthing bad happened to me. I would not try to keep something like that a secret, I would want to get help.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Megan i think that she got raped at the party. If someone wanted to help me because of something that happened to me i would let them as long as they are wanting to help for the greater good. Also i think it would depend on what happened to me.
ReplyDeleteI think Parker got taken advantage of at the party. If this happened to me I think I would only tell somebody that I trust completely and am very close with. I couldn't keep a secret that big and scary to myself.

If this happened to me I think I would try to get my self help, but depending on the situation that I would be in, I might not be able to help my self, I would definitly let someone help me, if they were helping me for the right reason and wanted the best for me.

ReplyDeleteIf the same thing happened to me,i think i would tell someone,and try and get help.Its just ther type of person i am,talking about my problems helps me better than keeping it in.This girl probably thinks different about it though,and for her keeping it in is more comfortable
I think that Parker got raped or just ran away. And it would depend, because if you do not trust that certain someone then you would not tell them something important in your life. But most likely yes I would tell someone who wanted to help me out.
ReplyDeleteSomething major happened to her at the party to make her act the way she is right now. hmmm... I'd have to think about who I'd tell if something really bad happened to me. Knowing me, I may not tell anyone right away--I'd have to sort through all the stuff that was going on in my head before I could talk to someone.
